Kurgan may be the Russian keyword (of Turkic source) for a tumulus, a type of burial mound or barrow, heaped over a burial chamber, typically made of wooden. The submission of these tumuli in Eastern Europe matches directly for the area of the Pit Grave or Kurgan heritage in South-Eastern Europe.
Kurgans comprise in-built the Eneolithic, Bronze, Iron, Antiquity and dark ages, with old traditions still existing in Southern Siberia and main Asia. Kurgan countries were divided, archeologically, into various sub-cultures, for example Timber Grave, Pit Grave, Scythian, Sarmatian, Hunnish and Kuman-Kipchak.
